Chambersburg Hispanic American Center

ANNUAL DINNER

CHAC's first Annual Dinner was held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. at the Chambersburg Knights of Columbus Hall.

More than 100 people attended to celebrate Hispanic heritage and CHAC's work during the past year.

Foods from several countries were highlighted--Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and the U.S.A. (Puerto Rico).  Chambersburg Mayor Pete Lagiovane served as Master of Ceremonies and Sergio Polanco (Ritmo Latino) was the DJ for an evening that featured music and dance from various Latino cultures.  A PowerPoint presentation about CHAC was unveiled for the first time.

The entertainment featured salsa lessons taught by Diana Martes, Professor Jose Ricardo Osorio, and Ervin and Evelyn Martes, of Philadelphia.  Afterwards, attendees danced until the close of the evening.

Special thanks to Chambersburg Roadrunners Club, M&T bank, F&M Trust Company, Franklin County Area Development Corporation, Institute for Caregiving Education, Mayor Lagiovane, Marilyn Ross & Diana Martes for purchasing tables.

At the dinner, Juanita, of Juanita's Side Door restaurant, was honored as the first Latina to introduce authentic Mexican foods to the Chambersburg region.

The evening was a great success and will be repeated next year!
